Description
Benzoin Essential Oil (Dilute/DPG) — a sweet, warm, rich resinous scent with an ancient pedigree.
The oil is obtained from the resin of the benzoin tree (Styrax benzoin). The raw balsamic exudate is collected by making incisions in the bark. The oil is aromatic, resinous, golden and thick, with a sweet, pleasant fragrance.
Benzoin resin has been used around the world for thousands of years. Its warm, rich scent has made it a staple of perfumes and incense from ancient times to the present day. It was so highly valued that it was often sent as a gift or used together with other precious oils — frankincense and myrrh.
How to use benzoin oil
- in an oil burner or diffuser — an enveloping scent for winter evenings and quiet moments,
- in fragrance blends — it adds warm, sweet depth,
- for massage — diluted in a carrier oil,
- in skincare — a drop in a balm for dry, rough hands gives it a warm, resinous scent.
