Candles and Scented Waxes — good to know

A candle burns using a heat source to light the wick, which melts and vaporizes a small amount of the wax. As the wax is melted and burned, the candle becomes shorter. The incineration of the wick limits its length and maintains a constant burning temperature and burning rate. Some wicks require regular trimming, usually to about 0,5-1 cm, to promote slower, steady burning, and also to prevent smoking.

Soy wax is a natural wax processed from soybean oil. It is often used in container candles, massage waxes and aromatherapy. Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax. Soy wax is a great eco-friendly alternative to paraffin. Soy wax candles carry scent beautifully and are better for the planet. They also burn up to 50% longer and do not emit toxins.

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always extinguish all candles when leaving a room.
