Kadzidełka i kadzielnice — co warto wiedzieć

Since the beginning of time incense has played a significant role in the human existence. Ever since the beneficial invention of fire, mankind has found that many materials release an odor when burnt, some very pleasing, and others not so much. These aromatic scents often accentuate the senses.
The name Incense is actually derived for the Latin verb incendere, meaning to burn. Incense has been around since ancient times. It was used in religious rituals. Over the centuries and into the present day, people throughout the world use incense for a variety of reasons. Incense is believed to be an essential element in any offerings made to the gods.
Incense is processed from plants. Sandalwood, patchouli, agar wood, and vetiver are harvested and ground using a large mortar and pestle. Water is added to make a paste, a little saltpeter (potassium nitrate) is mixed in to help the material burn uniformly, and the mix is processed to be sold for burning. The incense stick consists of the incense mix spread on a stick of bamboo.
