Coriander Seed Essential Oil has a sweetish, spicy-woody scent with a floral note — surprisingly gentle and elegant.

Coriandrum sativum is the botanical name of this intriguing plant. Both a seed oil and a leaf oil are produced from it, and each has a different character — so it is worth knowing which one you are working with. The seed oil is usually called coriander seed oil or simply coriander oil. The leaf oil is known as cilantro oil, cilantro leaf oil or coriander leaf essential oil.

Coriander seed oil is chemically similar to lavender oil — it shares several of the same constituents, including linalool, which accounts for its relaxing scent. That makes it lovely in the evening when you want to wind down, and in moments of tiredness when you need a gentle yet distinctive aroma.

Coriander has a romantic history too: the ancient Egyptians added it to love potions, and it is even mentioned in “One Thousand and One Nights”. To this day it is associated with a warm, sensual mood.

How to use coriander seed oil

• in a diffuser or oil burner — for a peaceful evening, alone or with lavender,
• for a relaxing massage after an active day — diluted in a carrier oil,
• as a natural deodorising scent — a drop in an unscented body lotion,
• in the bath — a few drops mixed with bath salts,
• in blends with citrus, cinnamon, ginger, sandalwood or jasmine.

Volume: 10 ml.

Directions
Diffuser or oil burner: a few drops. On skin: always diluted in a carrier oil (e.g. sweet almond, jojoba or coconut).

Caution
Do not swallow. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of the diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
