Description
Turmeric essential oil is a warm, spicy, earthy aroma straight from India — for lovers of rich, enveloping spice scents.
Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a flowering perennial of the ginger family (Zingiberaceae), native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia and cultivated in many tropical countries; its roots are used in cooking. It has a warm, slightly bitter, peppery flavour and an earthy aroma reminiscent of mustard — one of the key spices of South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisine. For centuries it has also been an important part of traditional Ayurvedic rituals in India, and in beauty rituals it was prized as an ingredient in face masks and homemade cosmetics.
How to use turmeric essential oil
- in a diffuser or oil burner — 2–3 drops for a warm, spicy atmosphere on chilly evenings,
- in fragrance blends — with citrus, ginger, cinnamon or sandalwood oils,
- for massage — diluted in a carrier oil, for a warming, spicy aroma,
- in the bath — a few drops mixed with a carrier oil or bath salts.
Capacity: 10 ml.
Caution
Essential oils are highly concentrated — do not swallow, and never apply to skin undiluted; always blend with a carrier oil first. Patch test before first use: apply a drop of diluted oil behind the ear or on the inner forearm; if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes, the inner ear and sensitive areas.
