Description
Cajeput Essential Oil — a fresh, cool, camphoraceous oil from cajeput leaves and twigs that freshens the air at home in no time.
It is produced by steam distillation of the fresh leaves and twigs of the cajeput tree (Melaleuca cajuputi). Don’t confuse it with tea tree oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) or niaouli oil (Melaleuca viridiflora) — they are close relatives, but each has its own scent. Cajeput’s crisp character comes from cineole, which can irritate the skin — so always dilute the oil before use.
How to use cajeput essential oil
- massage — approx. 10 drops per 50 ml of carrier oil, e.g. sweet almond, avocado or apricot kernel,
- bath — 8–10 drops mixed with a carrier oil or salts, in a bath one-third full of warm water; soak for up to 15 minutes,
- foot soak — a few drops mixed with salt in a bowl of warm water, to freshen up after a long day,
- steam bowl — 3–4 drops in a glass of warm water; breathe in the rising aroma a few times,
- hair washing — 2 drops in a portion of shampoo,
- room fragrance — oil burner, diffuser or spray,
- laundry — a few drops dissolved in liquid detergent or added to washing powder, for a fresh scent.
Volume: 10 ml.
Caution
Do not ingest. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
