Description
Rosemary essential oil captures the fresh, herbal-resinous aroma of a Mediterranean garden — refreshing while you work, soothing in the bath.
Rosemary is an aromatic evergreen shrub with needle-like leaves and fragrant white, pink, purple or blue flowers. Native to the Mediterranean and Asia, it is reasonably hardy in cooler climates too and copes well with drought, surviving long periods without water. Now classified as Salvia rosmarinus, it was known until 2017 as Rosmarinus officinalis. It belongs to the mint family (Lamiaceae), which includes many other culinary herbs.
Rosemary has long been used as a culinary herb, a food preservative, an ornamental shrub and an ingredient in perfumes and cosmetics. It was once considered a magical, spiritual herb. In aromatherapy it is valued for a scent that is both refreshing and settling.
How to use rosemary essential oil
- in a diffuser — a refreshing aroma for work and study,
- in a warm bath — a few drops with a carrier oil or bath salts for a moment to unwind,
- in hair care — a drop in your shampoo or hair oil,
- in a massage oil — diluted in a carrier oil.
Volume: 10 ml.
Directions
Diffuser: 3–4 drops. On skin: always diluted in a carrier oil (e.g. coconut, sweet almond or grapeseed oil).
Caution
Do not swallow. May cause an allergic reaction — patch test first: apply a drop of diluted oil behind the ear or on the inner forearm; if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes, the inner ear and sensitive areas.
