Description
Clove Leaf Essential Oil has a strong, warm, spicy aroma that instantly brings to mind winter evenings and home baking.
The oil comes from the clove tree (Eugenia caryophyllata), whose pink flower buds are what we know as cloves. Clove leaf oil is produced by steam distilling the leaves collected from the tree. It ranges from colourless to light yellow and has an intense, spicy scent.
Cloves have a long history — they were known and valued by the ancient Greeks and Romans, and widely used in ancient India and China. In aromatherapy, clove oil is regarded as a stimulating, sensual scent that brings warmth and energy to a room.
How to use clove leaf oil
- in a diffuser or oil burner — for autumn and winter evenings, alone or with orange and cinnamon,
- in home potpourri and scented sachets,
- in your own festive fragrance blends,
- for massage — only at a low concentration, diluted in a carrier oil.
Volume: 10 ml.
Directions
Diffuser or oil burner: a few drops. On skin: always diluted in a carrier oil (e.g. sweet almond, jojoba or coconut).
Caution
Do not swallow. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of the diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. External use only. This is a very intense oil — use sparingly and at a low concentration on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
