Description
Grapefruit Essential Oil has a juicy, invigorating and energising citrus scent — like a freshly cut fruit in the morning.
Known for its sour, tangy taste, grapefruit is the round, yellow-orange fruit of an evergreen citrus tree. Legend has it that ancient people considered it a forbidden fruit. Citrus paradisi, also known as shaddock until the late nineteenth century, originates from Barbados and is the result of an accidental cross between sweet orange and pomelo. It arrived in the USA in the 1820s.
The essential oil is derived from the rind of the fruit. Its aroma captures the citrusy, fruity character of grapefruit: fresh, slightly bitter, crisp and uplifting. It contains limonene, a fragrance compound typical of citrus fruit. A great choice to start the day, at your desk and anywhere you want to bring lightness to a room.
How to use grapefruit essential oil
- in a diffuser — for a bright morning and a refreshing aroma while you work,
- as a home freshener — a few drops with water in a spray bottle,
- for body massage — diluted in a carrier oil, for a pleasant citrus scent,
- in blends with mint, lavender, rosemary or other citrus oils.
Volume: 10 ml.
Directions
Diffuser or oil burner: a few drops. On skin: always diluted in a carrier oil (e.g. sweet almond, jojoba or coconut).
Caution
Do not swallow. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of the diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Citrus oils may increase skin sensitivity to sunlight — avoid sun exposure for several hours after applying to skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
A dose of citrus energy for every day!
