Description
Sage Essential Oil — a herbal, fresh, lightly camphoraceous oil from common sage that brings the scent of a herb garden into your home.
The oil is steam-distilled from the leaves of Salvia officinalis, also known as common sage, true sage, garden sage or Dalmatian sage. In the Middle Ages sage earned the nickname ‘the saviour’, so highly was it prized. It is often confused with clary sage: although both belong to the same family of evergreen shrubs, they are two different herbs producing two quite different oils.
Common sage has a herbal, fruity, fresh and camphoraceous aroma. It blends beautifully with citrus, spice, mint, wood and herbal oils — letting you create both refreshing and warm compositions.
How to use sage essential oil
- in a diffuser or oil burner — a few drops, alone or with citrus oils, for a refreshing aroma while you work,
- in room sprays — as a herbal accent mixed with water in a spray bottle,
- in fragrance blends — with mint or woody oils,
- for massage — only at a low dilution in a carrier oil, after a patch test.
Volume: 10 ml.
Caution
This oil is high in thujone and may cause convulsions at high concentrations — use sparingly and always at a low dilution. Do not ingest. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin.
