Description
Spearmint essential oil has a sweet, minty, refreshing aroma that livens up a room and encourages focus.
Spearmint, Mentha spicata, is a herbaceous perennial of the Lamiaceae family, best known for its sweet, minty taste and scent. For years it has featured in sweets, chewing gum and toothpaste, and its leaves are a kitchen favourite in salads, drinks, desserts and marinades. Spearmint smells noticeably softer and sweeter than peppermint — fresh, but without the sharp, icy kick.
How to use spearmint essential oil
- in a diffuser on your desk — 3–4 drops for a fresh, energising atmosphere while you work or study,
- in the bath — a few drops mixed with a carrier oil or bath salts for a bright start to the day,
- for massage — diluted in a carrier oil,
- as a room freshener — a few drops with water in a spray bottle, e.g. in the kitchen or bathroom.
Blends well with: the fresh, clean aroma of spearmint pairs beautifully with peppermint, rosemary, basil, bay laurel, orange and lavender.
Capacity: 10 ml.
Caution
Essential oils are highly concentrated — do not swallow, and never apply to skin undiluted; always blend with a carrier oil first. Patch test before first use: apply a drop of diluted oil behind the ear or on the inner forearm; if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes, the inner ear and sensitive areas.
