Smudge Stick — White Sage & Lavender 22.5 cm
Burning sage is one of the oldest rituals for cleansing a home and refreshing its atmosphere. The practice dates back to prehistoric times and has been found in many cultures around the world.
White sage has an intense herbal-resinous scent, and lavender adds a gentle floral sweetness. Together they make a classic ritual pair: herbal, distinctive and comforting. Many people use smudging as a “fresh start” — after a clean, a move, or simply at the end of the day.
What you need:
- the sage bundle,
- a large shell, ceramic bowl or other heat-proof dish for embers and ash (ideally with some sand; do not use water),
- a candle and matches or a lighter,
- optionally a feather or fan to spread the smoke in larger rooms.
How to smudge: open windows and doors. Think about what you want to let go of and what you’d like to invite into your space — you can repeat your intention silently. Light the end of the bundle from the candle, let it burn for a few seconds, then gently blow out the flame so it smoulders. Walk slowly through the rooms, guiding the smoke towards open windows. Pay attention to corners, hallways and doorways.
Safety: if embers fall on the floor, put them out immediately. Never leave smouldering sage unattended. Extinguish the bundle in sand afterwards. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
