Description
Star Anise (Aniseed) Oil — a sweet, intensely aniseedy, spicy aroma that evokes winter spices and the warmth of home.
Illicium verum is a medium-sized evergreen tree of the star anise family, growing in north-east Vietnam and south-west China. You probably know the spice made from its star-shaped fruits, picked just before they ripen, as star anise, Chinese star anise or badian — its flavour closely resembles anise.
Star anise oil has a strong, distinctive scent. It has long been used in perfumes, soaps, toothpastes, mouthwashes and skin creams.
How to use star anise oil
- aromatherapy — a few drops in an oil burner or diffuser for a warm, cosy atmosphere,
- bath — a few drops mixed with a carrier oil or bath salts,
- tissue — a drop on a tissue to enjoy the aroma during the day,
- evenings on the patio — insects aren’t fond of its scent.
Volume: 10 ml.
Caution
Do not ingest. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
