Description
Rapeseed oil is a light oil with a mild scent — a great base for diluting essential oils. Essential oils are too concentrated to apply straight to the skin, so blend them with an oil like this one before a massage or bath.
Rapeseed usually flowers in summer and is famous for its golden-yellow fields. It belongs to the cabbage family, so it is a close relative of turnip and mustard. Its oil, known as rapeseed or canola oil, is made by heating and pressing the seeds and has long been a kitchen staple.
Rapeseed oil has a favourable fatty acid profile: it has the least saturated fat of the common vegetable oils and plenty of unsaturated fat. Its thin, light texture makes it ideal as a carrier oil. Its mild scent does not compete with essential oils, and it has a very long shelf life.
How to use rapeseed oil as a carrier
- as a base for diluting essential oils — for massage, baths and your own fragrance blends,
- for massage — on its own or with a few drops of your favourite essential oil,
- in your everyday body and hand care,
- as an ingredient in homemade cosmetics — scrubs, balms and body oils.
Capacity: 1 litre.
Caution
