Description
Hyssop Essential Oil — a fresh, earthy, lightly sweet oil from hyssop flowers and leaves, with a woody-camphoraceous base and a fruity sparkle.
Hyssop (Hyssopus officinalis) is a plant of the deadnettle family (Lamiaceae). Although it technically belongs to the mint family, its flowers look strikingly like lavender! It has been part of folk tradition for centuries in the Middle East and southern Europe, where it originates. It is also a honey plant, much loved by bees.
Hyssop oils are characterised by their pinocamphone content. Aromatically, hyssop is fresh, earthy, fruity, woody, slightly sweet and camphoraceous — it blends best with citrus, floral, woody and herbal oils.
How to use hyssop essential oil
- in a diffuser or oil burner — a few drops for a fresh, herbal atmosphere,
- paired with lavender — for a floral-herbal evening blend,
- in room sprays — with citrus oils, in a spray bottle,
- for massage — only at a low dilution in a carrier oil.
Volume: 10 ml.
Caution
Do not ingest. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
