Description
Tea tree essential oil is a fresh, herbal oil with a distinctive, slightly camphoraceous scent — a classic for home skincare and cleaning.
Also known as melaleuca oil, it is distilled from the leaves of the native Australian plant Melaleuca alternifolia, a tree or tall shrub in the myrtle family (Myrtaceae). Endemic to Australia, it grows in south-east Queensland and on the north coast and adjacent ranges of New South Wales, along streams and on swampy flats. Indigenous Australians have made use of its crushed leaves for centuries. One of the oil’s main components is terpinen-4-ol.
