Description
Hazelnut carrier oil is a light oil with a sweet, nutty aroma — a great base for diluting essential oils. Essential oils are too concentrated to apply straight to the skin, so blend them with an oil like this one before a massage or bath.
Hazelnuts come from the common hazel (Corylus avellana). Hazelnut oil is cold-pressed from roasted hazelnuts — it has a pale yellow colour and a nutty, sweet, mild aroma. People have been using hazelnuts for at least 9,000 years, as archaeological finds from many sites across Europe show.
It is a superb carrier oil. It provides alpha-tocopherol, a component of vitamin E, and tannins — natural antioxidants. The tannins give it a slightly astringent feel, which is why hazelnut oil is valued in care for oily and combination skin: it is light, does not weigh the skin down and helps keep it feeling clean.
How to use hazelnut oil
- as a base for diluting essential oils — for massage, baths and your own fragrance blends,
- for massage — on its own or with a few drops of your favourite essential oil,
- in your everyday body and hand care — especially oily and combination skin,
- as an ingredient in homemade cosmetics — scrubs, balms and body oils.
Capacity: 1 litre.
Caution
For external use. Patch test on a small area of skin before first use. Do not use if you are allergic to nuts. Avoid contact with eyes. Keep tightly closed in a cool, dark place, out of reach of children.
