<trp-tag data-no-translation="">**Ylang ylang III essential oil** is a rich, floral-fruity, sensual scent straight from the tropics — for evenings when you want a warm, enveloping atmosphere.

Ylang ylang is a yellow, star-shaped flower that grows on the cananga tree (*Cananga odorata*), also known as the perfume tree. This tropical species is native to countries around the Indian Ocean, such as India, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and parts of Australia. Its heady, fruity, floral aroma has long been prized by perfumers — ylang ylang oil features in the composition of the famous Chanel No 5.

Legend has it that when the god of beauty was handing out fragrances to the flowers, he asked ylang ylang what it would do with a beautiful scent. The flower humbly replied that it would be grateful, but suggested the gift go to the grass instead — its flowers are trodden underfoot, while ylang ylang already grows tall alongside the others. Delighted by this answer, the god gave it a beautiful, magical scent to spread love among all living creatures.

### How to use ylang ylang essential oil

- in a diffuser or oil burner — 2–3 drops for a romantic evening or a quiet moment,
- in the bath — a few drops mixed with a carrier oil or bath salts for a relaxing ritual,
- for massage — diluted in a carrier oil, for a sensual floral aroma,
- in your own oil perfumes — as the floral heart of a blend, e.g. with citrus or sandalwood.

Essential oils are highly concentrated — do not swallow, and never apply to skin undiluted; always blend with a carrier oil first. Patch test before first use: apply a drop of diluted oil behind the ear or on the inner forearm; if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes, the inner ear and sensitive areas.
