<trp-tag data-no-translation="">**Niaouli Essential Oil** is a fresh, camphoraceous, herbal oil from the leaves and twigs of the *Melaleuca viridiflora* tree — a bold choice for anyone who loves eucalyptus-style scents.

Niaouli belongs to the myrtle family and the same genus as tea tree (*Melaleuca alternifolia*) and cajeput (*Melaleuca leucadendron*). It is also known as the broad-leaved paperbark or paperbark tea tree. Its scent recalls eucalyptus and cajeput oils, as all three are very rich in the same compound: 1,8-cineole.

Niaouli isn’t the sweetest-smelling oil in the collection. Its clean, cool, crisp aroma really comes into its own in blends — pair it with other essential oils to add a fresh, camphoraceous lift.

### How to use niaouli essential oil

- in a diffuser or oil burner — a few drops for a fresh, airy feel at home,
- in the bath — a few drops mixed with a carrier oil or bath salts,
- for massage — diluted in a carrier oil such as sweet almond,
- in homemade cosmetics — a drop in a portion of unscented gel or cream (always at a low concentration),
- on summer evenings outdoors — insects aren’t fond of its scent.

Do not ingest. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin.
