<trp-tag data-no-translation="">**Citronella Essential Oil** has a fresh, citrusy-grassy scent that brings to mind warm summer evenings on the terrace.

Citronella oil is distilled from the leaves of an Asian grass of the *Cymbopogon* genus, part of the grass family (*Poaceae*) and the order *Poales*. Ceylon or Lenabatu citronella oil is produced from *Cymbopogon nardus*, and Java or Maha Pengiri citronella oil from *Cymbopogon winterianus*. Lemongrass (*Cymbopogon citratus*) belongs to the same group of plants but is not used to make citronella oil.

This fragrant grass takes its name from the French word for lemon balm, thanks to its floral, citrus-like aroma. Its aromatic compounds are commonly added to soaps, lotions, candles, incense, perfumes and sprays, and it has long been a favourite in candles and incense used outdoors in summer. In aromatherapy it is valued for a scent that freshens the air and lifts the mood.

### How to use citronella oil

- in an oil burner or diffuser — on the balcony, terrace or in a summer house,
- as a home freshener — a few drops with water in a spray bottle,
- in homemade candles and soaps,
- in blends with lavender, lemongrass or lime.

**Volume:** 10 ml.

**Directions**  
Diffuser or oil burner: a few drops. On skin: always diluted in a carrier oil (e.g. sweet almond, jojoba or coconut).

**Caution**  
Do not swallow. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of the diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
