## Description

<trp-tag data-no-translation="">**Bay Essential Oil** — an intensely herbal, spicy-green, masculine and exotic scent; warming in character and a favourite in autumn and winter.

The oil is obtained from the leaves of *Pimenta racemosa*, a wild-growing evergreen shrub known as the West Indian bay tree. It belongs to the myrtle family and grows mainly in Asia, East Africa and Venezuela. The upper side of the leaf is smooth, glossy and olive green, while the underside has a raised light-brown midrib and veins. The leaves have a delicate, fragrant aroma and a bitter taste.

West Indian bay leaves are often confused with bay laurel (*Laurus nobilis*) — although their scents are somewhat similar, they are very different plants. Bay oil has long been added to hair tonics and scalp care products.

### How to use bay essential oil

- for massage — safely diluted in a carrier oil, in spicy blends for autumn evenings,
- in hair care — a drop in a portion of shampoo or homemade scalp tonic,
- in a diffuser or oil burner — for a cosy, spicy scent on cold days.

**Volume:** 10 ml.

**Caution**  
Do not ingest. Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin. Keep out of reach of children. If pregnant, breastfeeding or under medical care, consult your doctor. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
