<trp-tag data-no-translation="">**Virginian Cedarwood Essential Oil** — a warm, woody aroma that freshens rooms and creates a calm, focused atmosphere.

Virginian ‘cedar’ is actually a juniper — *Juniperus virginiana*. Strictly speaking it isn’t a true cedar: as the botanical name suggests, it belongs to the juniper genus within the cypress family (*Cupressaceae*). The oil is obtained from the needles, leaves, bark and berries of the tree.

In aromatherapy, cedarwood oil is valued for a scent that deodorises rooms and supports focus — lovely at your desk or in the evening for a quiet wind-down before bed. Insects aren’t fond of its aroma, either. In skincare, at a low concentration, it lends creams, body oils and shampoos a warm, woody note.

### How to use cedarwood essential oil

- in a diffuser or oil burner — at your desk or in the bedroom in the evening,
- as a home freshener — a few drops on a wooden disc or a sachet in the wardrobe,
- in hair care — a drop in a portion of shampoo,
- in skincare — a drop in a portion of cream or body oil,
- for massage — diluted in a carrier oil for an evening unwind.

Always dilute in a carrier oil before applying to skin and patch test first: apply a drop of diluted oil to the inner forearm — if any reaction appears within 24 hours, do not use on skin.
