The castor plant (*Ricinus communis*) is native to the Mediterranean and the tropical regions of Africa and India, and now grows in other tropical areas too. Castor oil, sometimes called ricinus oil, is a pale yellow vegetable oil produced by pressing the seeds.

Its main constituents are ricinoleic, oleic, linoleic (omega-6), alpha-linolenic (omega-3), stearic and palmitic acids — making it one of the richest seed oils. It has a thick, distinctive texture and many industrial uses, and in natural beauty it is a true classic — often found in homemade cosmetics, hair care blends and body oils.

### How to use castor oil
